Holistic Health Consultation

A holistic dentist is one who understands that the mouth is connected to the rest of the body. Someone not only with an understanding and concern for the physiology of the mouth, but also how it relates to the rest of the body and the overall health and well-being. When you come to a Holistic health consultation, you can be sure that we’re deeply concerned about the intimate connection between your dental health and nutrition and your general well-being. We focus on the level of health you want to achieve and the choices you can make to move towards that level of health. What you get with a holistic dentistry consultation is a conscious dentistry, where we use materials that have been tested to make sure they’re the least reactive for your body and pay special attention to the treatments and therapies performed on you, so they cause the least disturbance to the immune system, while seeking the least toxic reparative and restorative materials for your dental work.

Cosmetic Dental Consultation

Consultation is very important to create an individual treatment plan. Every patient is different, so we need to work closely to fulfill the needs of each unique individual, creating a new unique smile especially designed for you. In this consultation we discuss your wishes and expectations. We will make a treatment plan based on a series of x-rays and plaster study models, to see the layout of your teeth. Also we will take pictures to show you your teeth from all angles. Before starting any treatment, we will suggest all necessary work that needs to be done first, like fillings, root canals ,cleaning, whitening, etc.

CAD/CAM Dental Restorations

The term CAD/CAM is a shortening of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) a.k.a. “a crown in a day.” The CAD/CAM machine creates restorations, which are milled from blocks of white composite resin or porcelain, matching the shade of the restored tooth, and essentially creating a perfect copy of the original dental piece. The resultant restoration can then be adjusted in the patient´s mouth and cured/bonded in place, following acid etching of the underside of the restoration and the topside of the tooth itself. Composite resin materials are then used to fuse the resultant restoration to the tooth, completing the restoration process.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding takes little to no preparation, and the use of anesthesia if often not necessary unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. We will match the shade of your existing teeth to select a composite resin color that will closely match the color of your tooth. There are two forms of dental bonding: direct composite bonding and adhesive bonding. Direct composite bonding is the process where dentists use tooth-colored composites that they have in their offices to fill cavities, repair chips or cracks, close gaps between your teeth and build up the worn-down edges of teeth. The composite materials may also be directly applied and sculpted to the surfaces of the teeth that show most prominently when you smile, for minimally invasive smile makeovers. In the dental world these are called direct composite veneers but are generically known as "bonding".

Permanent Dental Bridge

A dental bridge essentially consists of a pontic or false tooth used to replace the missing tooth, which is made from zirconia, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials. It can also be made of two crowns serving to anchor the false tooth in place. NOTE: Prices are for a three unit bridge and will depend on the materials used.

Implant Bridge

Dental implants are posts that are surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw, where they function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. Because they fuse with the jawbone, they offer firm support to man-made teeth such as dentures or bridges.

Maryland Bridge

Also known as resin-bonded bridges or Maryland-bonded bridges. These are chosen when the gap to be filled is in between the front teeth, or when the teeth on either side of the missing tooth are strong and healthy without large fillings. The structure of this false tooth is made of alloys or zirconia and is bonded to the adjacent teeth, using resin that is hidden from view. The price is per 3 unit bridge made of zirconia-porcelain, 2 wings and a pontic.

Porcelain Bridge

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap. These two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and hold the false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, zirconia or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants. Prices are per unit and depend on the material used.

Temporary Crown

A temporary crown is a provisional, short term restoration used in dentistry. Usually the temporary crown is constructed from a chemical-cure composite. The temporary material is shaped by the dentist to form a tooth shape that protects the prepared tooth, prevents damage to the periodontal tissues (gums) and disguises the prepared tooth to a degree until the final, definitive restoration can be made by a dental technician. A temporary crown will usually be cemented in place with a soft temporary dental cement. This allows for easy removal when fitting the definitive restoration. NOTE: There is no charge for a temporary crown if it is going to be replaced by a final crown.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are restorations that protect damaged, cracked or broken down teeth. A crown strengthens your existing damaged tooth so as to preserve its functionality. Dental crowns are also commonly known as caps, because a crown sits over your existing tooth, covering the entire outer surface. Material options are porcelain and zirconia crowns.

Flexible Partial Dentures

A removable partial denture or bridge usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which is connected by a metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth. Compared to traditional metal partial dentures, Valplast® offers better aesthetics, comfort and durability. In fact, Valplast® partials are made from an unbreakable nylon resin. Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. Partial can be per arch, lower or upper or per quadrant.

Overdentures

An overdenture is a type of removable denture that is used for people who still have a few remaining natural teeth or on implants. The overdenture is made to fit over the teeth roots left in the bone; it uses the teeth roots (with nerves removed by root canal treatment) as an anchoring support for the denture. Usually, dentists like to keep as many natural teeth as possible, even when a complete denture is needed. To be kept, natural teeth must be shaped to fit under the overdenture and usually undergo root canal treatment during which the nerve of the tooth is removed so they’re not too sensitive to the shaping process. The teeth are then usually covered with metal castings or porcelain that fit into the overdenture or implants that snap into place.

Extractions

Extractions can be non-surgical or surgical. Prices can start from $55 to $220 USD or more in case of complicated surgery.Wisdom tooth extraction can be from $150 to$500 per tooth.

Fillings

Composite resin dental fillings were created as an alternative to traditional metal dental fillings or “amalgams”. Tooth fillings colored to look like a natural tooth are known as composite resin. Dental fillings are made of a plastic dental resin; they are strong, durable, and make a very natural looking smile.

Inlay or Onlay

These are an indirect restoration (filling) consisting of a solid substance as a composite or porcelain fitted to a cavity in a tooth and cemented or bonded into place. An onlay is the same as an inlay, except that it extends to replace a cusp. Crowns are onlays which completely cover all surfaces of a tooth.

Mouth Guard

Using mouth guards during sports or athletic activity can help prevent dental damage. They can also be worn at night to prevent teeth grinding.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is used to save teeth which would otherwise need to be removed. It is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.

Teeth Cleaning

Scaling and Root Planing: Scaling is basically the process of removing dental tartar from the surfaces of the teeth, while root planing is a specialized skill involving scaling of the root of the tooth, made up of cementum. A smooth cementum provides less opportunity for bacteria to accumulate and form calculus, so root planing is an important part of stopping the progression of periodontal disease, especially once deeper pockets have formed in the gums, which is really in the bone. Thus root planing is a specific treatment that removes the roughened cementum and surface dentin that is impregnated with calculus, microorganisms and their toxins. Ultrasonic Scaling: Ultrasonic scalers vibrate at a frequency that breaks down bacterial cell membranes and removes both plaque and calculus. Ultrasonic scalers are sometimes faster and less irritating to the patient.

Teeth Whitening

There are two options for this procedure. The whitening with laser, a process that takes 20 minutes, is done in the office, or a 2 week whitening treatment of 30 minutes daily can be done at home.

Veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics or to protect a damaged tooth surface. There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer, composite and porcelain. A dentist may use one veneer to restore a single tooth that may have been fractured or discolored, or multiple teeth to create a “Hollywood” type of makeover. Many people have small teeth resulting in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Some people have worn away the edges of their teeth, resulting in a prematurely aged appearance, while others may have malpositioned teeth that appear crooked. Multiple veneers can close spaces, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, fill the black triangles between teeth caused by gum recession, provide a uniform color, shape, and symmetry, and make the teeth appear straight.

Lumineers

Lumineers are a type of thinner veneers, so the tooth does not have to be shaved off as much.
